The aim of the project is to focus on fostering the common identity of the Baltic Sea Region by highlighting, developing and marketing substantial parts of the Baltic Sea Region natural and cultural heritage as business environment and outstanding strength of the region.

Objectives of the projects are:

  • Improve comon identity of the Baltic Sea region, based on natural and cultural heritage;
  • Improve the awareness of the  Baltic Sea region's unique natural and cultural heritage;
  • Prepare unique tourism products that represent unique natural and cultural heritage of the Baltic Sea region;
  • Improve access to information about tourist offer, which represents the Baltic Sea region's unique natural and cultural heritage;
  • Promote sustainable use of the Baltic Sea region's unique natural and cultural heritage in bussiness development;
  • Develop a pan-Baltic marketing strategy for heritage tourism;
  • Improve cooperation among various tourism and heritage organizations from the Baltic Sea Region.

Latvian Fund for Nature in collaboration with LLTA "Country Traveller", takes part in the following work packages of the project:

  • WP4 – BSR Heritage Scouting;
  • WP5 – Pilot solution.

Expected results of the project are:

  • Identified forest values as part of Baltic Sea Region heritage and its potential four tourism;
  • Assessed the existing forest-related tourism products;
  • Developed forest travel guide;
  • Conduct the Economic valuation for forest ecosystem services and highlight good examples of sustainable use of forest heritage for business development;
  • Promoted marketing of the forests as the Baltic Sea Region heritage.
