Peatland course in Cena Mire

Cena Mire Nature Reserve is an especially protected nature area where in the frame of EC LIFE project “Implementation of Mire Habitat Management Plan for Latvia” peatland conservation and management actions were realised. The participants of the peatland course were introduced with the results of raised bog management. In 2006 to stop the drainage influence 180 dams were built on the drainage ditches as well as groundwater level and vegetation monitoring was carried out.
